Mesolithic Flint Tranchet Adze

A Mesolithic flint tranchet adze was recovered from treethrow. Invasive flaking has been used to create the overall shape, with the two lateral edges tapering back towards a narrower butt. Tranchet adzes have been associated with both Earlier and Later Mesolithic assemblages, and so the dating cannot be refined using typological methods.
