Owain and Ian win joint first prize!
Congratulations to Owain Connors and Ian Channell Wright who jointly win this month’s Shutterbox competition with their respective pics: ‘Border Archaeology’ and ‘James and His Plant’:
Border Archaeology – (Owain)
“It’s Harri. He’s a whippet.
The photo shows Harri on Offa’s Dyke, built by King Offa of Mercia in the late 8th century. As an important liminal archaeological site, the Dyke defines a historic border (which roughly follows the modern border) between England and Wales, hence ‘Border Archaeology’. This particular section runs along Hawthorn Hill, to the E of our village.”
James and his plant – (Ian)
“Here we have James Link, Digital Archive Assistant, deep in thought while monitoring and organising the digital data retrieved from archaeological investigations. Next to him sits his assistant, the strangely large office Aloe Vera plant, doing nothing of importance.”
Owain is Archaeological Research and GIS Services Manager and Ian is Photographic Data Auditing and Conservation Manager, both are based at our Leominster office.
Many thanks to all those who entered.
The next deadline is October 31st.
