Heritage Assessment

Location: Walsall

Key Points

  • Heritage Assessment to accompany a planning application submitted to Walsall Council regarding the installation of a gate mounted on brick piers, new drive, and the planting of hedging at Shutt Cross House (70) Walsall Wood Road, a Grade II Listed Building within the Aldridge Conservation Area.

Summary

It was determined that the impact of the works to the 18th century Shutt Cross House, one of the earliest extant buildings in the area, was Negligible, reflecting that the new boundary treatment was coherent with the building’s other existing boundaries and further delineated the property from surrounding 20th century development. Additionally, the new boundary aligned with the boundary of Shutt Cross House’s 19th century neighbour, the Grade II Listed Cedar Court.
