What is a Heritage Statement

A Heritage Statement (HS) determines the impact of a proposed development on heritage assets and their respective settings; it can cover both archaeology and built heritage (more frequently the latter).

A HS normally consists of a description of the heritage asset or assets and an assessment of their significance and may also include an assessment of the impact of the proposed development, with recommendations to mitigate any adverse impacts if needed.
